How to keep your jewelry beautiful

How to keep your jewelry beautiful

Our jewelry has a story. It’s made in Nepal, by artisans who are part of our family. For them, our lucky tools mean a decent income, a roof over their heads, food on the table, and independence. Maybe you received the jewelry as a gift, bought it for yourself because you deserve it, achieved a goal, or just for the heck of it. It comes with a beautiful story. A story that you want to hold onto forever. This is how to do it:

1. Put on your jewelry last

Make-up, hairspray, body lotion, and perfume make you look irresistible. But your jewelry isn’t a fan of the ingredients in these products and is likely to lose its shine. Put on your jewelry after your cream has absorbed and you're dressed. Bonus benefit: you won't snag it on your favorite sweater either.

2. Keep it dry

Your lucky tool doesn't like wet feet. If you're cleaning, showering, swimming, or working out at the gym, it's best to take off your jewelry. Moisture affects your jewelry, just like salt, chlorine, and other chemicals. Did it get wet anyway? Gently pat your lucky tool dry with a woolen cloth.

3. Store on a soft surface

A dry place for your lucky tool, even if you don't wear it for a day. The bathroom is too tropical to store your jewelry. A dark place is perfect for taking a break. A drawer cabinet, for example. Keep your necklaces, rings, and bracelets separate, preferably in the boxes they came in. With a soft cushion or in a cotton bag. That’s how you keep them at their best. We always wrap our gifts with care.

4. Sleep softly

If you lie on your pillow with one ear, it’s wise to take off your jewelry. Then you won't get stuck. Extra tip: fasten the clasps while you're putting it away. That way your lucky tools won't get tangled. Saves you time in the morning.

5. Play it cool

Jewelry looks great with your swimsuit or bikini. But under an umbrella. Direct sunlight is too harsh for the brass or silver skin of your lucky tool and can discolor it. The hair dryer and heater will heat up your jewelry as well. It’s like when we get a sunburn, we don't like that either.

6. Take care of your story

Our lucky tools are called lucky tools because our jewelry is made fair trade on the other side of the world. You can read all about it here. Our jewelry also includes charms with symbols and natural gemstones. Each with its own meaning and its own story. That makes it a lucky tool for the person who wears it. With a story that lives on forever, as long as you take good care of it. But that goes for everything.
